The "Holy carp, Cassandra's cooking" corner, pt. 1

A Just for Fun post:

So, since my mother has kind of made me in partial charge of food from time to time, I decided I'd share "recipes" with ya'll. And by recipes, I mean what I decided to throw together on a moment's notice =)
Tagline: "Holy carp, Cassandra's cooking". ideal for students, bachelors, bacherlorettes, and people who are just feeling lazy/have random stuff lying around. :-)

"Ingredients" (aka crap you'll need):
Pasta (type depends on sauce; chunky sauce can be with flat noodles, thin is best with curly or shaped noodles so it catches the sauce)
Marinara sauce of some sort (I like Bertolli's Roasted Garlic and tomato)
Chicken nuggets/tenders (homemade or frozen)
Mozzarella (shredded or slice)

Side: Bruscetta/crostini
French/Italian bread (needs to be long and thin)
Sauce from above
Mozzarella (prefer mozzarella ball)
I also bought some Artichoke bruscetta stuff

How I did it:

First, I took two boxes of Barille Farfalle (bowties), and cooked them to Al Dente. Don't rinse them, because it removes starches that bind the pasta and sauce).
While you're waiting for the water to boil, cook the nuggets/tenders ( I used Banquet chicken tenders because they have  lot of meat) according to instructions.
Also, if your bread isn't cooked, cook in the oven until it's almost done.
Put sauce in a pan to warm, add anything you want to it.
When the bread is done/Already done, cut into thin slices, then arrange on baking sheet. Put some of the sauce on the slices, then some mozzarella. Put in the oven on low, warm until cheese melts.
Once pasta is done, drain and cool with ice.

Before serving, take some pasta, put on plate, then layer sauce, tenders, sauce, then some cheese on top. Stick in microwave for a few seconds (I used 30 secs in a 1200w microwave) to melt cheese.
For sauced bruscetta, cut some mozzarella off a ball and place on top of bread. Serve alongside main dish.

Family Consensus:
Father: Just had chicken with sauce because of his diabetes (pasta isn't good for diabetes).
Momma: Pretty good.
Brother: You didn't get me any! ;_; (aka was too busy playing his Pokemon Yellow Rom to get it himself)
Me: Pretty good, though I need to tweak the sauce and add more herbs. But overall, it worked.

Rating:

 3 1/2 Italians out of 5

Join me next time when I attempt to cook! ^.^
