Yeah. Legit stuff is expensive and is best to buy piece by piece as you have extra money. Before that, cheap, nice looking stuff works fine.
Cosplay works that way too, from what I can tell.

As for sandals, the closest I have to nice ones are some I bought at walmart. The look is kind f a brocade, but I have to deal with the stupid thong part between the toes XD
